March 15th commemorates the 12th anniversary of the Syrian revolution and all the hopes and dreams that came with it. Artistic production has been fundamentally transformed over the past decade and I wanted to take the opportunity to shine a light on recent works of art - paintings, caricatures, murals and sketches - that speak to, and capture the raw emotions Syrians currently experience.
Much of this creative output is influenced by the catastrophic earthquake, but also includes subjects related to the state of detainees, dangerous journeys of refugees and general feeling of abandonment tied to the past decade.
