This pair of detailed English-language Syrian city maps of Damascus and Aleppo - is a wonderful snapshot in time before the mass expansion and population growth. 

This set of Syria maps were created by the US Army Map Service, Corps of Engineers. Scale is 1:10,000, Edition 2-AMS, Series K922.
