This exquisitely detailed lithograph (reprint) of the Aleppo (حلب) skyline was developed by French artist and photographer Joseph-Philibert Girault de Prangey who is known for some of the earliest photographs of the region. At the center is the Citadel of Aleppo (قلعة حلب), one of the oldest and largest castles in the world, which has stood guard over the Aleppo for over two millenia. On the left in the distance you can make out the minaret of Great Mosque of Aleppo (جَـامِـع حَـلَـب الْـكَـبِـيْـر). Built by the Umayyads (الأمويون) it was meant to rival in its magnificence the Umayyad Mosque of Damascus. Both are designated UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Every inch of this lithograph provides delightful detail and surprises from a past long forgotten.

This is a hi-res reprint (not an original), framed and printed on thick matte paper.
