1898-46 Hama General View of the Al-Kaylaniya Neighborhood Framed Vintage Photo

General view of Hama with focus on the now destroyed (in 1982) Al-Kaylaniya neighborhood (حي الكيلانية), Al-Baz waterwheel (ناعورة الباز) and hints of the Al-Kaylaniya bridge (جسر الكيلانية) on the eastern bank of the Orontes river (نهر العاصي). The original Al-Nuri Mosque (جامع النوري), also destroyed in 1982 but restored, can be seen on the western bank (on the right). While this dry plate negative (reprint) is dated between 1898-1946, it is likley the photo taken between 1920-1939 by the American Colony/ Matson Photo Service.
