Bab Sharqi (The Eastern Gate - باب شرقي), is one of the seven ancient gates of Damascus. This is the only original Roman gate (Gate of the Sun) still standing and is the eastern entry way of the Street Called Straight (الشارع المستقيم) and the Old City of Damascus. A minaret and Al-Zeitoun Church ( كنيسة الزيتون) are featured in this photocrom reprint. Photographer: Felix Bonfils
