1934 Iskenderun Aerial View Framed Vintage Photo

Rare aerial photo reprint of the entire city of Iskenderun (الإسكندرونة) in 1934, its port and the Nur Mountains (formerly known as Amanus or Alma-Dag, or Jabal Al-Lukkam) standing tall in the background. This photo was taken by the French Armee Du Levant while the region was part of the French Mandate of Syria and Lebanon (الانتداب الفرنسي).

Originally part of the Ottoman Aleppo Vilayet (ولاية حلب), at the time of this photo, the region was still part of historical Syria - specifically, the Sanjak of Alexandretta from 1921-37 (لواء الإسكندرونة). It was annexed by Turkiye (تركيا) in 1939.
