Built in 831 during the Abbasid era, the Minaret of the Bride (مئذنة العروس) was the first of the three minarets that tower above the Umayyad Mosque (الجامع الأموي) in Damascus. Local legend claims that the minaret is named after the daughter of the merchant who provided lead for the minaret's roof. This view from the courtyard also includes the Dome of the Ablution Fountain (قبة الوضوء) and Dome of the Treasury (قبة الخزنة) in the bottom left. This is a reprint of a photo originally taken in 1862 by Francis Bedford.
