This is a photo reprint of the great altar of the Church of Saint Simeon Stylites (كنيسة مار سمعان العمودي) in the Aleppo province (محافظة حلب). This Byzantine church is known locally as the Fortress of Simeon (قلعة سمعان) or Monastery of Simeon (دير سمعان) and is one of the oldest surviving Churches, initially built in 473 AD.
